Citing Tan Sri Dr Jeffrey Cheah numerous involvements and contributions to the school and the society, this significant appointment deemed befitting.

Tan Sri Dr Jeffrey Cheah had pledged a total of RM 3 million to SRJK (C) Chee Wen for the building of a multipurpose hall. RM2 million has since been contributed and the final RM 1 million in cheque was presented during the dinner to Dato’ Lee Hwa Beng, Advisor of Board of the Governors, SRJK (C) Chee Wen.
Mr Wong Kee Chiew, Headmaster of SRJK (C) Chee Wen said, “The multipurpose hall is larger than the size of 10 badminton courts. The hall is situated at the 2nd floor and it is able to accommodate and host many activities like this hall at Sunway University. Our new hall will be very useful especially to the pupils”.

In his speech before presenting the long service awards to the teachers, Tan Sri Dr Jeffrey Cheah said “As a new member of The Board of Governers of SRJK (C) Chee Wen, I dedicate this night to all the teachers for their effort that enabled the transformation of lives. We respect and recognise your great efforts towards the society today.”

To entertain the teachers and guests, the Sunway University Resident Ensemble led by Mr Rockie Siew performed to the theme of ‘Chronicles of Narnia’ and ‘Yue Liang’ among other enchanting melodies. Also present at the dinner were Mr Lee Weng Keng, CEO, Education and Healthcare Division of Sunway Group, Ms Elizabeth Lee, Executive Director of Sunway University and the Sunway Education Group, and Professor Robert Bignall, Vice-Chancellor of Sunway University.
