Sunway University’s Centre for American Education (CAE) in its annual Thanksgiving and Awards Ceremony hosted guests from the U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, the Industrial Advisory Board and American Degree Transfer Program (ADTP) alumni. Present at the ceremony was YAM Tunku Zain Al-‘Abidin ibni Tuanku Muhriz, trustee of the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation who was recently appointed as Adjunct Teaching Fellow at CAE.
The ceremony saw 17 students recognised for having completed the first half of their degree here and have successfully transferred to various universities in the United States of America; Drake University, University of Central Oklahoma, Arizona State University, Iowa State University, University Of Kentucky, Embry - Riddle Aeronautical University and Ohio State University.
Students who made the Dean’s List were also recognised; 5 were awarded Summa Cum Laude, 9 Magna Cum Laude and 8 Cum Laude. Asides from academic excellence, the ceremony paid tribute to CAE Student Committee and students who were involved in the J-Charity programme in India. The J-Charity was a self-funded trip by the students to India to help the underprivileged children in various communities.
