Jeffrey Cheah Foundation & University Of Oxford Sign Academic Collaboration

The Jeffrey Cheah Foundation (JCF) signed a declaration with the University of Oxford, a leading British institution of higher education in the United Kingdom.

This statement of intent is to declare academic and cultural project collaborations between JCF and Oxford, which includes the 4th Southeast Asian Studies Symposium in March 2015, held outside University of Oxford for the first time.

JCF is a not for profit foundation and Malaysia’s largest education-focused social enterprise dedicated to providing high quality education, teaching and research in Malaysia through the 12 institutions of the Sunway Education Group (SEG), and in particular Sunway University and Monash University Malaysia. It established the Jeffrey Cheah Institute for Southeast Asian Studies (JCI) in Sunway University, which was launched by the Deputy Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in March 2014.

This partnership with Oxford illustrates JCF’s commitment to continually supporting academic study of the region and, develop a long and productive collaboration between the respective organisations. JCF had earlier established academic links with Harvard and Cambridge allowing two-way flow of researchers and scholars between the world’s most prestigious education institutions and SEG.

The statement of intent was signed by Founding Trustee of JCF, Tan Sri Dr Jeffrey Cheah and Pro Vice-Chancellor of Oxford, Professor Nicholas Rawlins on behalf of Oxford. Tan Sri Dr Jeffrey Cheah is also the Chancellor of Sunway University and Founder & Chairman of Sunway Group.
