Launch of 1Malaysia Entrepreneurship Week

Sunway University College’s drive and growing need to produce first-class students in the education industry was visible with their second launch of the 1Malaysia Entrepreneurship Week in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education. Implemented to create a platform of enterprising youths that are eager to exchange ideas and seek guidance, the students were exposed to a series of talks, interviews, question and answer sessions as well as practical tips.

The event saw an inspiring welcome speech by Ms. Elizabeth Lee, Executive Director of Sunway University College and Sunway Group of Colleges, and officiated by YB Dr. Hou Kok Chung, the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Malaysia.

A series of thriving entrepreneurs were invited to share their insights and success stories with the youths. Among them were notable entrepreneurs such as Mr. Ahmad Zakir Ja’afar, CEO and Co-Founder of Nineteen O One (1901 hotdogs) and Michael Reyes, CEO Money Tree Asia Pacific.

“Students were motivated with various inspirational stories that did not just showcase passion and commitment, but real life values that they can adapt into their own lives” said Ms. Elizabeth Lee. These successful entrepreneurs provided guidance that was truly refreshing and noteworthy which students can apply when they become innovative idea-generators.

Sunway University College and the Ministry of Higher Education places the utmost importance on student development and will continue to nurture, guide and support today’s youth to foster them in reaching their maximum potential and contribute effectively to the country’s human capital. Y.B Dr. Hou Kok Chung, Deputy of Minister of Ministry of Higher Education ended by saying “The contributions and ideas from the young minds through entrepreneurship and innovation will determine the country’s future”.
