Sunway Students Spread Deepavali Joy

As you step into the foyer of Sunway University College, you will be greeted with a symphony of colours embedded within a majestic peacock floor art. The students from the Department of Arts and Design skilfully crafted a marvellous creation that is a kaleidoscope of colours.

From a cultural perspective, the kolam is traditionally drawn to accentuate the entrance of the “homes” of Hindu families before a festival. The peacock design was chosen by Ms Elizabeth Lee, the Executive Director of Sunway University College and Sunway Group of Colleges because of its distinctiveness and exotic design. The students from the Department of Arts and Design who made this beautiful creation are Teo May Yeen, Fang Ju Ee, Ng Jia En, Nor Haziqah, Malathy Karthiraesu, Koh Wei Fang, Lim See Yean and Chong Shiew Ee.

The peacock design kolam was a symbolic representation of immortality and renewal. Each feather on the peacock represents protection, joy, love and a colourful life. The Sunway students hope everyone in Sunway University College will be blessed with protection, joy, love and colour during the festival of lights and throughout their lives.
