“Sunway has always believed in supporting its fellow alumni and various initiatives in contributing to the society at large. At Sunway, students are always encouraged to make a positive difference in the world and where actions matter, the “Delivering Happiness” donation drive encompasses these values. Community outreach projects such as this enables students to cultivate a spirit of giving and in turn gain better understanding on the importance of their roles in society and their community”, said Elizabeth Lee.

Anthony Tan, Founder of MyTeksi is Sunway’s A-Levels alumnus. “The collaboration between MyTeksi and Sunway University was such a rewarding experience for the kids we helped together and our fellow teammates. Hopefully, the Sunway team enjoyed it just as much.

Many people in the past have said that they would help, but the team at Sunway focuses on getting stuff DONE! I'm proud to call myself part of the Sunway team. Together we made a positive difference in other people's lives”, said Tan. MyTeksi is a for-profit social startup with a mission to revolutionise the taxi industry and it is Malaysia’s leading mobile taxi application. MyTeksi teamed up with Science of Life Studies 24/7 (SOLS 24/7), an NGO that focuses on educating and empowering the lives of those in rural communities for this “Delivering Happiness” donation drive. All donations received and collected by MyTeksi was handed over to SOLS 24/7 to be distributed to children in underserved communities. The donation drive which ran from 28th December last year to 19th January this year, required donors to use the MyTeksi application to book a taxi to collect the items. Taxi fares for the collection were borne by MyTeksi.
