Shutterbugs Captures Photography Lovers

A picture paints a thousand words. For the love of photography, “Shutterbugs”, was formed. Sunway University’s new photography club will be a platform for students of different backgrounds with a keen personal interest in photography, amateur or professional, acknowledged artist or enthusiastic novice.

For the inauguration of “Shutterbugs”, a photography competition, entitled “A Moment in Action” was held. The winning pictures successfully demonstrated an appreciation of art and a different perspective of the given topic. Alvin Lau Kah Boon who is currently pursuing a Diploma in Business won the competition with his picture of “The Riot Policeman”. The second prize winner, Poon Ching Mun from Sunway TES portrayed “A Baby Holding an Orange”, while Carolyn Ng Shih Ling also from Sunway TES and president of “Shutterbugs”, won the third prize with her picture “Mama Pig and Her Piglets”.

The launch of shutterbugs

“Shutterbugs” strives to create more opportunities for photography lovers to gather, exchange thoughts and ideas on photography. Plans for the future include photography classes by professional photographers for club members. This is to enhance students’ skills and for them to move up to an advanced level of photography.

“Shutterbugs” is one of many societies at Sunway where the aim is to provide students with conducive learning opportunities outside classroom for students’ academic success and individual development.
